What a great airport restaurant and bar! I think it was only 10:15 a.m., but I was ready for a great Bloody Mary and far too often airport Bloody's can be "meh". But this one was right up my alley! A goodess amount of horseradish and all the right ingredients for me! I had two :) The second great thing about this place was the staff. They were pleasant, quick, friendly to the customers, accommodating and not pushing you out the door as if they are waiting for more tips. What I liked even more was that they all got along. The servers working together, the cooking staff having a great time together. Front and back of house working to please the customers that they MAY NEVER see again! Pretty damn good. Thirdly, the kitchen cook was happy to serve lunch even though it was still breakfast hour. I ordered a club sandwich. It was quite good. On sourdough bread, with turkey, bacon & avocado. I was able to get a side salad that was very fresh. It all was very nicely done. If you are flying Spirit air it is in the same concourse. Very good and relaxing. Great place to wait for the next flight :)
WOW! Hangin' food and great beer! We had Lobster Fritters and the Smuttynose brown. Service could have been a little better but the food made up for it! Nice work!
As I travel to other cities with a good beer presence, I try to take in as much of the local craft as possible. So as I waited for my plane to start boarding at Logan, I definitely made a point to stop at Cisco Brew Pub. In addition to Cisco Brewery selections, they also have several other local beers on tap. I chose a Smuttynose Brown Ale and it was delightfully sipped and enjoyed. I imagine this place probably gets busy on more hectic flight days (I was there on a Tuesday afternoon), but when I was there plenty of seats were available at the bar and tables. Didn't try the food, but it looks to be your normal pub fare. Nonetheless, I will certainly stop here for a pint again on my next way through.
As fate would have it, we came all the way to Boston to drink a beer from Tampa. Cisco is a smallish brewery and supplies often run low - they have a phrase they tout on advertising "great beer... if you can get it." I was nonetheless disappointed when they didn't have Grey Lady on tap. Also out was the Indie IPA, so I opted for the Cigar City (Tampa) Maduro. Bartender described it as a porter but it's obviously a brown ale. I took off a star because it's pretty clear that the beer lines are dirty as the tinny, copperish taste soured a beer I know well. Fortunately, the bartender Lynn was simply incredible. She managed a very full bar and kept the planes moving. She was in perpetual motion but maintained control of all the orders she was juggling. We opted for the obligatory Lobster Roll and the Chef's special chicken pasta primavera. Both were very good if not exceptional. The lobster for the sandwich was a little bland, but I prefer that over being too saucy or too mayonnaise tasting. The buttered roll helped a lot and the sandwich was sizeable. The pasta was really tasty also - lots of flavor and just a little spice. My one critique here would be that the sauce was a bit oily but wifey ate it all and felt the oiliness wasn't off putting. All in all worth the stop.
